By decision of 21 April 2026, the authorisation of NeemAzal®-T/S in Germany was extended for professional use in leafy vegetable cultivation in accordance with Article 51 of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009.
Common framework conditions
The approval extension applies to leaf vegetables in accordance with the crop group classification system of the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL). All newly included applications are intended for professional users in vegetable cultivation and are subject to standard requirements, including provisions relating to application method, maximum application frequency and other binding conditions.
These requirements apply equally to all areas of application listed below. The differences within the approval result from the respective growing conditions and forms of use.
Differences within the leaf vegetable crop group
Within the common leaf vegetable crop group, three different areas of application are distinguished, each of which is listed separately in the Article 51 decision:
- Outdoor leaf vegetables
Extension of approval for professional vegetable cultivation in the open field. This application refers to the traditional cultivation of leaf vegetables under open-field conditions. - Greenhouse propagation of leaf vegetables
Extension for professional seedling production under protected conditions. This area of application concerns an early production stage in which seedlings are grown in a greenhouse before being further cultivated or transplanted outdoors. - Leaf vegetables for use as baby leaf salad
Extension of approval for crops that are harvested at an early stage of development and used as baby leaf. This form of use differs from conventional cultivation in that the focus is on young leaves rather than the mature plant.
All three applications therefore clearly relate to leaf vegetables, but are specifically differentiated between open-field cultivation, greenhouse seedling production and baby leaf use.
Information on the classification of food groups is available on the website of the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL).
