TRIPHERON® Delta Trap

Pheromone Attractant Trap

The delta trap is used as an early warning system for the occurrence of pest insects in the field or in greenhouses and can therefore determine the ideal treatment period using insecticide measures. At the same time, it reduces the reproduction of the pest insects. As the males are lured into the trap by a species-specific sexual attractant, the females remain unfertilized and the deposit of eggs is prevented.

TRIPHERON® Delta Trap at a Glance

Agriculture

For the monitoring of pest incidents one trap per hectare is sufficient. The optimal position of the pheromone trap is 25 cm above plant height. In peas the traps are ideally placed at all four corners outside the field. In any case, a trap should be placed between the old and new crop at a distance of 10-20 m from the new crop.

Fruit cultivation, gardening, viticulture and forestry

One trap per hectare is sufficient for monitoring. Traps should be placed at the outer parts of the plants at about 1.70 m. The traps should be easily accessible to the insects.

Stores

For monitoring purposes one trap per 100 m³ is sufficient. Pheromone traps should be placed at eye level.

Households / Cloth Moths

These insects do not show much flight activity. Therefore, it is advisable to place the trap in different areas at 2 weeks intervals (e.g. in/on cupboards, under/on top of upholstery) in order to locate the pest.

Households / Food Moth

For monitoring purposes one trap per room (max. 100 m³) is sufficient. Place the pheromone traps in/on kitchen cabinets, in the pantry or similar.

The TRIPHERON® Delta trap consists of a trap body, two sticky inserts, a wire for mounting and a loaded dispenser made of natural rubber with a special nature-identical attractant (pheromone). Over a period of 4-6 weeks (depending on the type of pest), this pheromone continuously releases the female’s scent into the environment and lures male moths to the trap.

  1. Fold the trap into a triangle and feed the wire through the pre-punched holes. Use the wire to form a suspension for the trap (hook, as in the picture, or arch).
  2. The side parts of the trap should be pressed inwards evenly. To do this, first press the corners on one side firmly together at the pre-punched points and fold them inwards.
  3. Now insert one of the sticky inserts, place a dispenser directly in the middle of the sticky area and press the side parts on the second side inwards.
Content Complete trap including one attractant dispenser and two sticky inserts
Shelf Life
Stored in a cool and dry place (below 0° C) the attractant dispensers have a shelf life of two years.
Please open the bags containing the dispenser just before its use. Pheromones are sensitive substances, therefore avoid touching the dispenser directly.

Note

For the monitoring of pest incidents usually one trap per hectare is sufficient. Place the trap approx. 50 m from the edge of the field and take care that traps are at least 100 m apart from each other. If you want to monitor different pest insects in the same plot, the traps for the different species should have a distance of at least 10 m. One or two traps per greenhouse are recommended. The trap should generally be mounted so that the trap entrances are not blocked by leaves or twigs.

Please control the traps regularly (usually every 3 days but at least once a week). If the first pests are trapped on the sticky insert, countermeasures should be considered immediately! In order to obtain meaningful data on population density, the sticky insert must be replaced before it is completely covered with insects or dirt.
